Why is taxpayer's money being spent on renovating the reception area and cafe of Hitchin swimming pool?
Aside from allowing easier wheelchair access, there is nothing wrong with the reception area, and the only thing wrong with the cafe is that it sells such an unappealing range of food. Would £260,000 not be better spent upgrading the changing rooms by replacing the lockers, replacing the dribbling showers, and employng more cleaning staff so the changing rooms and toilets were not so dirty and did not smell of urine by the end of most days?
Is it me, or have the council completely missed the point of what makes a swimming pool decent for the hundreds of local people that use it?
