Concerning the recent letters in your paper concerning Disability Living Allowance. As part of my job I deal with completing these application forms all the time. First of all I would like to point out you can only claim DLA if you are under 65 years old.

If you are older than 65 you can apply for Attendance Allowance. I have found it helps if you get your GP/consultant to fill in the part of the form where it asks about 'who knows about how the illnesses/disabilities affect you'.
It is also important to complete the form in terms of what help is needed rather than what the applicant is actually getting. Age Concern are a very good resource of information, they can be contacted on freephone 0800 009966. I hope this helps.
