SIR - As a person who is still coming to terms with the loss of their mother and father within a six month time span three years ago, the comments by Nick Carver, Chief Executive Lister Hospital, (The Comet, August 7) I find deeply distressing and coldly calculating.
My late father died of MRSA that he contracted while in the Lister. The hospital at the time of issuing the death certificate did not really want the cause to be MRSA, and said all sorts of things like 'there will be a delay if I want the real reason of MRSA to be stated on the certificate'.
Of course I did want the real reason put in the documents, and in the end I won and that was registered as cause of death.
It is now obvious to me why that painful conversation had to happen, they were acting on Mr Carver's instructions.
