I am a resident on the Grange estate who enjoys taking a stroll through the recreation ground, Gaunts Way, and onto the Greenway. It is very sad to see the mess left behind by some of the footballers who utilise the fields here at the weekend. Surely after a game they still have enough energy left to pick up their empty water and juice bottles, they are not that heavy when empty! My son and his friend helped me pick up 9 plastic bottles, several carrier bags and a football shirt all left on the sidelines, looking over the fields there were many more on other pitches.

All of those footballers who are guilty of littering should perhaps think about how they would like to pick up all of the mess before they could start to play every week and have a conscience.
