SIR - What is up with Stevenage shops? I came to Stevenage in 1962 with my parents, so have seen many changes in the town and have to say not for the best.
Being of retirement age now, where are the clothes shops for ladies and also gentlemen of age group 40 and over? We used to have such lovely clothes shops, especially if you wanted something special, but now you have to go elsewhere. It seems that they only cater for the younger set - who want other shops, estate agents, mobile phones - and people who want to stuff their faces with the amount of food establishments which seem to pop up every week.
Who has the say in local government about what shops go where?
Let us have some nice new shops and not more of the same old things.
NAME AND ADDRESS
SIR - What a lot of slobs live in this town, there is rubbish chucked everywhere, graffiti and vandalism. We live near The Glebe where we see a lot of this.
There are three CCTV cameras around The Glebe, but have there been any convictions? Every time we look at the cameras, they are either pointing up or down Chells Way.
There is one camera which can point right down the main area where the kids from the local school in Mobbsbury Way gather to buy food, etc and when they leave, rubbish is left on the ground even though there are at least three bins there.
We are sorry to say that the council is losing the battle. The only thing about the rubbish is that it makes the street cleaners jobs safe!
