As a new driver and a resident of Stevenage all my life I had to laugh at the article published in last week's Comet (April 20 - Man's anger at state of roads) .

There was no mention of Mildmay Road which has been in a very poor state for quite some time now, and a road I now do not use because of this. The road is heavily trafficked through the day and as it is a main bus route and a school is located in the vicinity it adds even more pressure.

On a recent trip to Hertford I noticed how well the roads are kept free of potholes and wear and tear as I did not see a single one!

It seems to me more money is used on our county town than anywhere else within the county, so what do we pay our Council Tax (which has gone up yet again) and car tax for?
