It is only for people who can afford the places anyway and then work in London. People in the know, think about it please, do not spoil our town any more. We have lived over half our lives here and my children were born here and educated here as well.
We love living here and we support most things and work hard for our town, so please do not build any more or pull things down. The people who make these decisions do not live here anyway, so town, stick together and say 'no'.
NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
* I was bemused to read that Hitchin's well-loved character and charm could be lost forever.
Where is the character and charm in the Brooker's Yard site? It is one of the remaining areas which should be demolished! Every time I drive round the one-way system I think the sooner it all goes the better! It will be a pleasure to see a new development go up opposite the beautiful and well-kept Physic Garden outside the library instead of rows of used cars and peeling paintwork! Hitchin is a thriving market town with a loyal following of residents of which I am one and it has improved, through development, beyond recognition since the late 70s and early 80s. The recently finished sight of well-designed houses facing onto Bancroft Park instead of the rusty fence hiding something nasty are surely the answer to take the town forwards.
Well-considered schemes are the answer in my opinion, not hanging on to the threads of dilapidation that we know are there!
Hitchin deserves developing!
