It was good to see so many people having a good time at the Herts Show despite the conditions. From another point of view the organisation was appalling and the day was a disaster.

After buying our tickets in advance we went along on the Sunday. The queue of traffic was more than two miles long and on reaching the entrance to the show we were told by police that cars were not being admitted as the ground was not suitable for parking. If you had a 4x4 you may have been more fortunate. Some four wheel drive vehicles were being directed into an area that was suitable only for them.

Hundreds of people must have been turned away and were being told that if they had bought their tickets in advance they would have to take up the subject of a refund with the organisers.

The question that needs to be answered is why did we have to queue for so long before being told about the parking? Why weren't the police at the roundabout, one mile back, so drivers were not queueing for so long and could make other plans for their Sunday?

We were lucky as we were able to find a spot on a grass verge and managed to get into the show. But others were not so fortunate and had their whole day ruined.

It is not just the parking - this show is held in the same place every year. Why are all their facilities (including the toilets) so poor. It is time they got their act together.

Shame on the organisers for creating this fiasco, and then failing to deal with it effectively.
