Regarding the proposed move of the Letchworth Post Office, a few hours before receiving this week's Comet we had learnt with amazement, disappointment and anger, of the Post Office's proposed move to the Broadway Post Office.

The present Post Office is well sited, very busy and efficient and there is no way that the proposed siting will be able to maintain the standard of service whatever the Post Office says. The new site will be far too small, it is inconveniently situated (especially for older people relying on bus services) and local experience at Hitchin showed that there are many problems in operating an efficient post office as an afterthought in a busy, often cluttered, retail shop.

The proposal is Hitchin all over again, this was a large efficient post office giving a very good service in a purpose built building and, to the Post Offices' shame, the building has remained empty for all the many years since closure.

We hope that the collection of views (all of which we are sure will be against the move) will make the Post Office have second thoughts on this ill thought out proposal.
