A terrific effort from an under-strength AC Malone came without reward in the Hitchin Sunday League.

Playing with just 10 men against Atletico 99 in Division One, and Lewis Archer deputising in goal, they still fought into a 1-0 lead at half-time.

In the end though the extra man proved crucial and Atletico ended up 3-2 winners.

Ben Fairey and Phil Payne got the goals for Malone.

Bottom side Buffs lost 2-1 at home against The Cock in Division Two, with the three points for The Cock moving them up two places to fourth in the table.

St Ippolyts enjoyed a successful day picking up all three points with a narrow 2-1 victory away against GSS.

In Division Three the runners-up spot is being contested by three teams, Feed Up Warm Up, Niche and Saint Evenage, and all three of them were in action.

Feed Up Warm Up were away against Khoi Khoi and picked up all three points following a 2-1 win.

Niche had a good 4-1 win at home against champions North Herts Hatters and Saint Evenage win 5-2 at home against Lea Sports PSG.

There were also games played in two of the groups of the Subsidiary Cup.

In group C Stotfold Juniors had a comfortable 6-0 win away against Ashwell while in group D, Cronies had a 2-0 win at home against Down And Under.
