The house was originally built in 1912 by the Carter family, who were well-known local builders. However, many of the most intriguing parts of the property date back centuries.

The main front door comes from Costessey Hall – with Tudor stained glass either side of the door depicting the York and Lancastrian roses.

This glass, along with some oak panelling and the main stairs, came from the old Costessey Manor, which was supposedly gifted to Anne of Cleves by Henry VIII.

Other stained glass from the hall can be seen in a museum in Roanoke, Virginia.
