Watford Borough Council is set to consider Warner Bros Studios Leavesden’s plan to bring its new sound stages quicker.

On Tuesday May 14, the council’s development management committee is set to either approve or reject tweaks to the permission to build 11 new sound stages, new production offices, three workshops, a multi-storey car park featuring 2,500 parking spaces, and a new roundabout near the A41 North Western Avenue.

These include making changes to the design, size, and layout of some buildings, road layouts, moving car park spaces, and adding temporary food/cycle access for staff.

Warner Bros. Discovery also wants to speed up the delivery of some of its new sound stages to meet demand and therefore seeks to adjust the arrangements for road movements.

Watford Borough Council’s planning officers have recommended approval ahead of the meeting, but the final decision is up to the councillors on the committee.

Because 90 per cent of the site is within Three Rivers, the area’s district council also received a duplicate of the plan and it formally approved the designs on May 1.

Large parts of the land covered by the plan, to the south-west of the existing Leavesden Studios site, was formerly green-belt land.
