Two women were attacked in Stevenage at the weekend, with one taken to hospital after losing consciousness.

An argument between two female victims and a man broke out in St Nicholas Tavern in Canterbury Way on Saturday night, and continued into the car park, where one of the victims was punched.

The fight continued outside and onto Canterbury Way, where another victim was struck across the face, causing her to lose consciousness.

She regained consciousness and was assisted by witnesses back to the St Nicholas Tavern car park, where she lost consciousness again for a significant amount of time.

The victim sustained a cut to her lip and, due to losing consciousness, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A man in his 30s has since been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

The incident occurred between 9.20pm and 9.40pm on Saturday (April 20).

Detective Constable Dom Pyburn, from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, said: "We are keen to talk to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed this incident and could have vital information for our investigation.
