Hertfordshire: Weather warnings issued as rain set to return

"Further flooding and travel disruption" has been predicted for tomorrow (Thursday, January 4) and Friday (January 5).

Watford, St Albans and Welwyn Garden City all fall within the warning zone for both days.

A slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services has been warned, affecting some homes and businesses.

There is also a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

Spray and flooding is "likely to lead to difficult driving conditions" and some road closures, while some communities could be cut off by flooded roads.

Delays to bus and train services has been predicted by the Met Office.

In Watford, rain is predicted from 5pm tomorrow until 3am on Friday.

Elsewhere, in Welwyn Garden City, rain will begin at a similar time but last until approximately 6am on Friday morning.

The impact of Storm Henk 

Flooding, fallen trees and travel disruption were caused by Storm Henk yesterday (Tuesday, December 2).

This included a fallen tree on the Welwyn Bypass Road, damage to businesses in Hitchin and flooding on the A414 and A1081 near St Albans.

Reports of structural damage to a sign at Hitchin's Kwik-Fit were made, while the A602 near Stevenage remained closed until this afternoon (Wednesday, January 3).

"Major" delays were also reported across the Thameslink train network, with delays of up to 90 minutes announced.

Hertfordshire County Council has since confirmed that more than 600 reports of floods and fallen trees were received.
