Anonymous Promotions are putting on a hotly anticipated night at Club85 next week.

The indefatigable Hitchin venue will host Philip Storey who will be performing his debut album with an eight piece band - including string quartet - at its release on Friday June 8.

The Hitchin singer and guitarist spent a year writing, recording and producing the 12 song album Outside This House in a small studio at the bottom of his garden.

This is even more impressive when you realise he has cellos, violins, double bass, brass and piano on the recording and he had never touched a mixing desk before.

A cast of local talent features on the album including Elizabeth Townsend (The Floe), Charlie Pyne (Copperhead Lucy), Leon Camfield (Tinyfish, Stuart O’Connor), Chris Hollis (SSSN, Vanilla Nightmare) and Ben Davies (Arms & The Man, SSSN).

The result is a set of multi-layered heartfelt songs that shift effortless from the beautifully melodic to the explodingly epic.

Support on the night is from top folk bloke Stuart O’Connor who will be performing with a full band, the magical There Were Bears, and Robbing King Richard who put on a stomping three guitar, one bongo, spooky-jazz performance at VicFest earlier this month.

The SoundARC DJs will also be on hand - so there will be no let up in the fine music.

Entry for the 16-plus night is a fiver.
