Former Left Hand Drive singer and bass player Johnnie Howman has got together with old band mates singer-songwriter Ian Hearfield and drummer Howard Evansto reform Scarlet O’Hara.

Renamed The Scarlet, they will perform a reunion gig at The Arena Tavern in Letchworth next Thursday.

The band gigged around North London and Herts through to the mid-80s, but had strong ties to LGC because the management and stage crew were from the town.

Johnnie said the decision to reform the band was a long time coming.

“The fuse was lit in December 2010 when we got together at a studio in London to record some of our original material, but after Left Hand Drive dissolved late last year discussions started to progress.”

Johnnie added they were hoping to meet old friends from the days when Letchworth College – now Morrisons – and the Leys Youth Centre were big music venues in the town.

“We are really looking forward to the show and hope that some friends from the O’Hara days will drop by and say hello.”
