The first acts playing a summer music festival in Hertfordshire next year have been announced.

Kimpton Folk Festival will return to the Hertfordshire countryside on Saturday, July 7, 2018.

And organisers have confirmed the first acts playing the village’s third folk festival.

Headlining next summer will be the Urban Folk Quartet (UFQ).

Also appearing at the all-day event will be folk duo Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage.

Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar have also been announced, with Jaywalkers and Luke Jackson also due to appear.

The Kimpton Folk Festival’s website says: “The success of our first two festivals has enabled us to assemble our most exciting Kimpton line-up yet.

“New artists are being added all the time, so check back for artist updates and news on ticket sales.”

Kimpton Folk Festival 2018 will include music on four stages, food stalls, workshops, storytelling, face painting, buskers, dancing and a full day of free entertainment on the village green.

Of the acts so far confirmed, the Urban Folk Quartet play fiddle-led music that draws heavily from Celtic dance forms and traditional song.

Greg Russell’s powerful vocals and driving guitar style and Ciaran Algar’s All-Ireland winning fiddle playing have seen this duo become one of the most sought after acts on the British folk scene.

A chance meeting at their local club in Cambridge brought Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage’s shared musical passions together into an act that is a sublime, intimate blend of American roots and English folk music.

Since reaching the finals of the BBC Young Folk Awards in 2008, Jaywalkers have cemented their place as one of the most exciting, virtuosic and entertaining young bands working on the British folk scene.

Winner of Fatea’s ‘Male Artist of the Year’ in 2014 and 2016, Luke Jackson is a captivating performer.
