Music festival Cool Britannia will return to Knebworth Park next summer with “some great acts” already booked for the 2019 line-up.

Organisers of the 1990s themed festival have confirmed dates for next year’s return of Cool Britannia to the Knebworth House estate.

The Hertfordshire stately home will host the Britpop extravaganza from Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1.

A limited number of early bird tickets will go on sale on Friday, October 5 at 9am.

This year’s first Cool Britannia was headlined by Happy Mondays and Ocean Colour Scene, with the likes of Feeder, Dodgy, Embrace, Razorlight, Toploader, Faithless’ Maxi Jazz, legendary New Order bassist Peter Hook and The Light, Space and Cast also appearing over the weekend.

The main stage was opened on the Saturday by the premiere of Britpop Classical, with The Farm’s Peter Hooton, Saffron from Republica, Heaven 17 singer Glenn Gregory, and Phil ‘Parklife’ Daniels all performing tracks backed by an orchestra.

No Cool Britannia line-up details have been announced yet for 2019’s festival.

However, organisers have confirmed on the official Cool Britannia Festival Facebook page that some bands have already signed up for next year.

A Cool Britannia Facebook post today (Sunday, September 30) read: “We are busy working on the line up with some great acts already in the bag!

“The full line up will be announced in early 2019, but please, tell us who you would like to see (it would help if they are alive, sane and working!!).”

Among fans’ suggestions on the Cool Britannia Facebook thread are Shed 7, Sleeper, Ash, Reef, Manic Street Preachers, James, Travis, The Charlatans and The Bluetones.

Stereophonics, Pulp and Suede, along with The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft, Paul Weller, and Liam Gallagher, have also been namechecked.

The currently disbanded Oasis have also unrealistically been suggested by some people.

The Britpop legends played two huge outdoor shows at Knebworth Park back in 1996 in front of 250,000 people, but the group split up in 2009.

To see who is playing Knebworth next summer festival-goers will have to wait for the line-up to be officially announced in 2019.
