A STAR of TV sitcom and British box office smash The Inbetweeners Movie is coming to Hatfield later this month.
Actor James Buckley – Jay from hit comedy The Inbetweeners – will be appearing at the Forum Hertfordshire again on Friday, March 23.
He will be the special guest at the Flirt! club night held at the College Lane entertainment venue.
An indie fan and keen musician, James ‘Jay’ Buckley joined Ocean Colour Scene on stage at last year’s V Festival at Chelmsford, Essex.
He played guitar with the band for one song and watched the rest of their mid-afternoon set from the side of the stage.
In The Inbetweeners, James played crude, foul-mouthed compulsive liar Jay Cartwright.
Jay was best mates with fellow Rudge Park Comprehensive sixth-formers Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas) and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) in the E4/Channel 4 series, and the programme followed the four teenage outcasts’ embarrassing attempts to experience life, improve their social standing and impress the opposite sex.
A subsequent movie version of The Inbetweeners, with the four teens on a parent-free lads’ holiday to hedonistic hotspot Malia on the Greek island of Crete, was released last summer and was one of the biggest grossing movies of the year in this country, taking more than £40m at the box office.
James Buckley also played a teenage Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in the BBC’s Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock & Chips.
Flirt! is one of the UK’s biggest club nights featuring one room of commercial chart and cheese and one room of funky house, electro and R’n’B.
Doors for Friday, March 23’s Flirt! night in Hatfield with James Buckley open at 9.30pm.
Before then, this Friday (March 16) it’s a St Patrick’s Day party with BBC Radio One’s Tom Deacon joining resident DJs.
Tickets cost £5 in advance, £7 on the door (£6 students) and £10 after midnight.
