Boro face mounting striker problems ahead of trip to Walsall

Stevenage have recalled Michael Thalassitis from a loan spell at Hayes and Yeading to ease their striker problems.

Jordan Slew has been handed a three-match suspension for violent conduct after being sent off in the 0-0 draw against Colchester United on Tuesday evening while Chris Beardsley pulled his hamstring in that game and is likely to miss this weekend’s trip to Walsall.

With fellow front man Patrick Agyemang working his way to match fitness after joining the club on loan from QPR, manager Gary Smith has decided to recall Thalassitis a month before his loan spell was due to end. The striker has scored three goals in five games for Hayes.
