Stevenage were knocked out of the FA Cup after a 3-0 defeat against Reading at the Madejski, but how did Darren Sarll’s men fair?

Tom King, 6 – Could do little with any of the goals he conceded and made a couple of good saves. The Millwall loanee appears to have now displaced Joe Fryer as Boro’s number one.

Ronnie Henry, 5 – Defended well but was often exposed by Reading’s pace out wide or when Chris Gunter overlapped. This also limited his offensive capabilities.

Jack King, 5 – Dominant in the air but struggled with the pace and movement of the Reading attack at times.

Ben Wilmot, 5 – Had a few shaky moments but will continue to develop after his third consecutive start at the back for Boro.

Joe Martin, 6 – His set piece delivery was excellent as usual and most of Stevenage’s chances came from his left foot. Defended well.

Tom Pett, 5 – Played in a more central role and struggled. Blazed over one of Boro’s better chances with 10 minutes left

Jonathan Smith, 6 – Got up and down the pitch well, keeping his passing simple and tidy. Fulfilled his defensive duties but could little when Reading over ran the away side in midfield.

Mark McKee, 6 – Tried to create chances and looked composed throughout but he could do little to drag Boro back into the game before being substituted.

Ben Kennedy, 6 – The Northern Irishman did his best to cause Reading problems with some direct running and incisive passing but found himself foiled despite his efforts in attack.

Danny Newton, 5 – Did not look his lively, dangerous self at the Madejski and struggled in his wider position.

Matt Godden, 6 – Looked Boro’s biggest threat. Was unlucky to see a goal ruled out and a header well saved but he worked hard for Darren Sarll’s side.

Substitutes

Alex Samuel, 5 – Had little chance to impact a game that was already out of Boro’s reach.

Tom Conlon, 5 – Had the same issue as Samuel.

Andronicos Georgiou, N/A – Had little time to impact the game but will be pleased with his first-team appearance.
