Ashton, like Chris Day, has experienced plenty during his time with Boro – including promotions and relegation. He joined the club in 2009 and was the club captain last season, though he gave up the armband in the summer. He has slipped down the pecking order at the start of this season, but remains an important cog in Graham Westley’s machine.
