New manager’s introduction has been ‘seamless’ says Stevenage striker
CHRIS Beardsley says Gary Smith’s first few days in charge of Stevenage have been an exciting time for Boro and added that the new manager’s introduction to the club has been seamless.
The 27-year-old striker was part of the Stevenage team which knocked Notts County out of the FA Cup on Saturday, Smith’s first match in charge, and speaking after the game he told The Comet that if Smith does feel that changes need to be made that can only be healthy for the club.
“It’s been seamless you could say,” Beardsley said. “He’s come in and he spoke to the senior lads on Wednesday. It is obviously an exciting time for the players, himself and the club with new faces around the place. We just do what he says. He’s the manager and it’s our job to listen.
“There isn’t any trepidation from anyone. He wants to win football games; we want to win football games. He will have his own ideas and things, and it’s only healthy if he spots things that we can improve on.
“There’s always improvements to be made, there’s always ways we can move forward. We can get better and that’s the ethos of the club, the manager, the players, the staff.”
