Former Welwyn junior Sydney Gregson can’t wait to pull on the black jersey after signing for Saracens.

The Baldock native, who also turned out for Letchworth as well as the Hobbs Way club’s U18 side, has been playing for Bristol Bears for the last three years while she studied at the University of Bath.

But after a summer spent playing in Australia, she has made the switch to Allianz Park.

She said: “I can’t wait to get stuck back in to playing 15s after playing sevens for the past few months.

“The club has a fantastic set-up and a very talented group of players so I’m really excited to join them and see what the season can bring.”

Head coach Alex Austerberry said: “She’s been capped at international level and has a wealth of experience in the Premiership from her time at Bristol.

“She’s going to add real quality and we know she will make an immediate impact, but she also has great potential.”

Gregson’s first game for Saracens ironically could be against her old club as the Women in Black head west on Saturday.
