There was disappointment for Stevenage-born Alice Middleton and former Dame Alice Owen’s schoolgirl Jacqueline Bramley as their Cambridge side narrowly lost to Oxford in the 30th Varsity Women’s Rugby match at Twickenham.

Letchworth returned to winning ways at Legends Lane on Saturday with victory over Saffron Walden in an entertaining game which moved the hosts out of the drop zone and boosted confidence for the weeks ahead.
