Preston Cricket Club’s Australian star Lewis Balcombe achieved the rare feat of twin centuries at the weekend – making 114 in SHCL Division Two A on Saturday before hitting 100 not out in the Beds League on Sunday.

Saturday’s ton was his third of the year and was part of a thoroughly commanding performance.

It saw them register a 137-run win over Bishops Stortford 2nds to stay top.

Preston racked up 292-6 in their 50 overs with James Stevens (31) and Jack Stevens (35) backing up Balcombe.

Stortford started well but soon fell away as Dave Fleckney (4-24) in particular caused havoc.

On Sunday Balcombe reached his hundred in the last over of the innings against Great Brickhill.

And a splendid bowling and fielding performance saw Preston emerge with a rare Sunday victory.

Iain Purton hit 137 not out as the Sunday seconds beat Knebworth Blues.

Fourteen-year-old Gabriel Ryan then chipped in with 4-13.
