Ickleford Cricket Club saw their Under-11s eight-a-side team lift the Herts Cup for the first time.

Captained by Archie McIntosh they beat Watford Town by 13 runs in the semi-final before despatching Berkhamsted in the final by 45 runs.

Ickleford batted first in the final and reached an intimidating score of 315 – aided by explosive hitting by Leo Mason and Eden Scott.

Driven by skipper McIntosh Ickleford strangled their rivals from the start in reply.

Faced with aggressive fast bowling from Jamie Timms and Will McIntosh wickets fell at regular intervals as Berkamstead subsided.

Delighted coach Paul Scott told CometSport: “The team has been outstanding this season and put in a tremendous amount of hard work to be crowned county champions.

“Beating the best in Herts was a fantastic achievement and testament to the quality of the players, their work and team ethic and the club’s successful junior development programme.”
