Shefford and Sandy ladies fourth team beat Welwyn Ladies 4-1 at the weekend in an entertaining game.

Second-placed Shefford started strongly against their visitors who have yet to record a win this term. On five minutes youngster Phoenix put S&S 1-0 up.

Moments later, she grabbed her second with a classy reverse strike that Welwyn’s goalkeeper didn’t stand a chance with.

A strong period of play from Welwyn was then answered by Hannah Currell as she pushed the ball through the midfield finishing off the run with a super goal for 3-0 at the break.

Both teams returned to the pitch to work hard and late in to the second half Shefford’s efforts were rewarded with another goal through Girlie of the Game Heidi Cook who scored to make it 4-0.

Welwyn managed to pull a goal back as a result of a mis-hit from Shefford’s defence to leave the final score 4-1 to Shefford.
