In front of a number of supporters, Blueharts got off to a strong start with Ellie Cockburn putting away a cross from Jay Livermore to score within the first three minutes. Blueharts had most of attacking play with a second goal from a counter attack when Kate Sherwood drove the ball up the left wing to pass to Ellie Cockburn who took on the keeper to make it 2-0.

The tables then turned with Stevenage having the majority of play forcing Blueharts into their half putting the defence under pressure.

Some fantastic saves by Nat Sullivan and the defence diffusing numerous short corners kept the score line 2-0 at half time.

Blueharts came out after half time determined to get back into their stride and scored again with a textbook goal that started with Carly Madders free hit finding Jay Livermore with pinpoint accuracy. Livermore then sprinted up the right wing, dodging defenders to whip a cross into the D which was expertly put away by Zoe Smith (nee Broadfoot).

Looking dangerous in attack Blueharts won several short corners which proved tricky to convert on the sandy pitch. This was a game that Blueharts dominated in the first 20 minutes leading to a goal from Swinyard during a short corner. It was then followed by a goal from Tim Sporle during open play. However it seemed like early season fitness seemed to draw in towards the end of the first half, allowing Broxbourne back into the game to eventually score, making the scores 2-1 by the end of the half. The start of the second half was more evenly balanced, with Broxbourne grabbing a second goal moments after the interval. Special mention should go to Adam Taplin and Tom Jackson making their 4th team debuts who both played really well.
