Lauren Higham has claimed the Eastern Cyclo-cross U16 League title after success at the final race of the season held at Snetterton’s Ada Cole Horse Welfare Centre.
The Stevenage cyclist secured the league having competed in 11 of the 17 races across the season and, with the best 10 results counting, claiming eight wins and three second places.
The 15-year-old, who is a member of Stevenage CTC, also finished seventh in the national series which has helped her to claim a top-10 national ranking for the season.
Lauren was in imperious form this season and managed to avoid illness and injury that had denied her the chance of the title in previous years.
The cyclist dominated many of the races claiming the Club Cyclo-cross Championship and the Eastern and South Eastern Regional Cyclo-cross Championship in December as well as being part of Welwyn Wheelers’ championship-winning team alongside fellow cyclists Joe Kiely, Elspeth Grace and Ollie Stockwell.
Lauren will now move up to the junior division in September to compete against U23 and elite women.
The teenager has also had a good start to the road season, having competed at the Lee Valley road circuit and Hillingdon, winning both races in the U16 girls’ category.
