Stevenage have completed the transfer deadline day signing of John Goddard.

Stevenage have signed John Goddard from Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Boro, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The midfielder started his career at Reading but failed to make a first-team appearance for the Royals, moving to non-league side Hayes & Yeading United in 2012.

A move to Woking followed a year later and Goddard impressed in his three seasons at the club.

He scored 17 goals from midfield in the 2015/16 and won the Cards player of the season award, earning himself a move to Swindon Town.

Goddard made 42 appearances in his first season at the County Ground but Swindon were relegated from League One.

The 24-year-old has been a bit part player in League Two this season, playing just 13 times.

He has also represented England C on two occasions.
