Stevenage have landed another new signing, Alex Reid from Fleetwood Town.

The 22-year-old signed for Boro on Thursday after impressing as a trialist.

The Birmingham-born former Aston Villa youth spent last season on loan to Wrexham and Solihull but netted twice at St Albans before featuring in the two further pre-season victories against Portsmouth and St Neots this month.

Speaking to the official Stevenage FC website he said: “I am delighted to sign.

“Now it is all down to me and putting the hard work in.

“I can’t wait to get going for real now and begin this new chapter in my career.”

Reid joins a raft of new players as the Dino Maamria revolution powers on, as the Boro boss reshapes the squad to his tastes.

Maamria has been working his charges hard this summer, including a week in Slovenia at a high altitude training camp in a bid to boost fitness levels and ensure the new men gel.

The recipe seems to be working so far with three wins out of three in July.

Maamria said: “We knew about Alex for a while.

“We watched him out on loan at Wrexham last season and he will add pace to our forward-line which is something we need.

“He is still young, a pure athlete and there is loads of room for him to improve as a player.

“He is a good professional, a great kid, he wants to learn and he is a real Stevenage type of player.”

Watch Alex and a number of the new signings at the Lamex on Saturday against League One side Coventry City, kick off 2pm.
