Sarll added seven players to his squad in the winter window and was keen to praise the new arrivals at the Lamex.

The Boro boss told CometSport: “You’ve got such a dramatic range of personalities and experience that they are all different in their own right.

“Players like Alex Revell and Dean Bowditch walk in as if they have been here for 10 years.

“Joe White is obviously coming up a level into the Football League as a young man from Dagenham and he finds his way like young people do.

“Ben Sheaf is a very serious individual, a serious professional footballer who comes in and works very hard.

“He’s not really here to win friends and influence people, he just wants to be a top player.

“He’s got a focus and a drive about him, as does Luke Amos.

“They are very similar and you look at the elitism of the clubs they come from, you have to be a serious athlete to get on at those clubs.

“Then you’ve got Johnny Goddard who is mid-range, 25, had a couple of clubs now and is a good person who’s nice and bright. I’ve been pleased with his performances.”

However, Sarll lamented the absent of experience attackers Alex Revell and Dean Bowditch but he is looking forward to having both available for selection soon.

“The big two we’ve missed are Revell through suspension and Bowditch, trying to get him up physically,” he said.

“We eagerly await Alex’s return because he’s a massive influence to players around him and he’s one of those people who makes others better.

“He’s an absolutely terrific player in this league and the one above so he’s been a big miss.”
