Stevenage sunk Cheltenham Town 2-0 on Saturday to earn their first win in four League Two games.

First-half goals from Kurtis Guthrie and Steve Seddon saw Dino Maamria’s side earn their seventh win of the season and their second clean sheet in a row after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Port Vale at the Lamex.

The early stages at Whaddon Road saw the visitors pose the biggest threat, and their dominance in the air payed off in the 19th minute, as the towering Guthrie nodded in Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s cross.

Boro continued in the driving seat before doubling their lead moments before the break, winning the ball back inside the host’s box before Seddon fired in expertly.

Cheltenham pressed for chances in the second half but didn’t seriously trouble their visitors, who missed plenty of opportunites for a third goal.

Stevenage now sit eigth in League Two ahead of hosting Oldham Athletic next Saturday.
