Biggleswade Town have further strengthened their defence with the signing of Jay Lovell from Hertford Town as pre-season looms.

Lovell is new Waders boss Lee Allinson’s ninth signing of the summer, as the versatile defender joins a wealth of options at the back. Waders assistant manager and coach Eddie McLoughlin said: “He’s a very hardworking lad that wears his heart on his sleeve, he will give everything for the club.”

The combative Lovell will join his new teammates for a packed pre-season.

They’ll play 10 matches inside a month, including fixtures against step-two sides St Albans City, Hemel Hempstead and Billericay Town at Langford Road.

Kicking-off preparations on 7th July with a trip to London Colney, Allinson’s men will then make the trip across town to Second Meadow for the annual Chairman’s Cup against Biggleswade United.

After visiting Spartan South Midlands Premier champions Welwyn Garden City and hosting Potters Bar Town, the season kicks off on 11th August.
