Jodie Southby picks up a gold and silver

Etonbury Academy won eight medals at the recent County Athletics Championships which were held at Bedford International Stadium.

Etonbury had nine athletes competing in total.

The pick of the U13s girls athletes was Jodie Southby, pictured, who won gold in the discus with a championship record throw.

Southby also won silver in the long jump after she was beaten into second place with the last jump of the competition.

Chloe Emery was second in the hurdles and third in the long jump while Natalie Smith and Ella Reeves won silver and bronze respectively in the shot putt.

Lara Henry was third in the javelin while Jessie McGilley was third in the discus to win bronze in the final competition of the day.

Lewis Norwood and Bradley Lusty, both aged 13, were in action at U15s boys level and Norwood finished fourth in the 80m hurdles while Lusty was sixth in the 200m final.
