White van driver was at wheel in Hitchin while on cocaine

A 37-year-old man who drove a white van through Hitchin with cocaine in his system has been banned from the road.

Paul Waller, of no fixed address, was caught at the wheel of a Suzuki Carry with benzoylecgonine and cocaine in his blood in Hitchin’s Bedford Road on January 21.

He pleaded guilty to drug-driving when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates on Monday.

Chairman of the bench Robert Cinnamon fined him £120 and banned him from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and £30 surcharge.
