The 29-year-old’s partner Carla Holbrook, 30, told the Comet that his funeral would be held at Bedford Crematorium on Friday, September 22, at 12.15pm.

The mum-of-two said: “Wayne loved his grandad or flat cap, so feel free to wear one to remember him by.

“The dress code is smart casual, and donations towards helping with the cost of the funeral would be welcome.

“We will be leaving at about 10am and then travelling halfway and meeting with the horse and carriage.

“Afterwards there will be a wake at Biggleswade Rugby Club in Langford Road.”

Carla said that anyone wishing to travel behind Wayne’s family from their home should contact Benedict Funeral Directors on 0800 634 4505 to receive the address.

Wayne’s body was found by a dog walker in a field off Baden Powell Way on August 12 – four months after he was last seen on April 6 – and police formally identified the body as his on August 18.

A cause of death was not disclosed, but officers have confirmed it is not being treated as suspicious.
