The mayors of Stotfold and Shefford, along with town and parish councillors and charitable groups, were on hand for the unveiling of the 16-seater Orion bus at Lower Stondon’s Mount Pleasant Golf Club.

Shefford vicar Rev Roni Goodman gave a speech and offered a prayer, before pressing the open button to formally bring the bus into service.

The new bus provides the service with a second vehicle.

Based in Meppershall, Wanderbus has been provding a fixed route for residents in and around the two villages since 1989, and is entirely run by volunteers.

The non-profit services is available to everyone and runs routes to major towns like Biggleswade, Hitchin and Letchworth.

Wanderbus accepts cash fares and concession passes in the same way as contracted bus companies.
