Villagers near Potton are getting set for their annual duck race and flower show.

Sutton will put on its annual flower festival and exhibition of local art at All Saints’ Church on Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1.

The theme will be A Night at the Theatre, and the church will be open both days from 10am to 5pm. Admission will be free, with donations gratefully accepted.

There will be refereshments and a variety of stalls open from 1pm to 5pm in the garden opposite the medieval church.

The famous Sutton Duck Race will be at 3pm on Sunday, July 1, starting from the 14th-century Packhorse Bridge. Tickets to sponsor ducks are £2 each and are available from John on 07786 657029 or Derek on 01767 261742.

There will be prizes of £150 for the first duck home, and £50 and £25 each for the ducks that reach the bridge second and third respectively.

There were 1,000 plastic ducks in last year’s race.
