A 22-year-old woman who was born in Stotfold and went to Shefford’s Samuel Whitbread Academy has been found dead in a Cambodian hostel alongside a friend she was travelling with.

Natalie Seymour and her friend Abbey Amisola – aged 27 from Winnipeg, Canada – are said to have been found unresponsive this morning in their room by a member of staff at the Monkey Republic guesthouse, a backpackers’ hostel in Kampot.

The pair are believed to have died after taking over-the-counter medicine from a chemist, bought because they were feeling unwell.

Police in the Southeast Asian nation are now investigating.

In the days and weeks leading up to her death, Natalie had posted photos of her travels around Southeast Asia on Instagram – the most recent being candid snaps of her at Koh Thonsáy island in the Gulf of Thailand.

A spokesperson from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Cambodia, and are in contact with the local authorities investigating her death.”
