STUDENTS and staff at a North Herts College campus had to be evacuated this afternoon (Monday) after a fire broke out in a computer cupboard.

Two fire crews from Stevenage and one from Hitchin were alerted at about 1.20pm to a blaze at the Stevenage campus in Monkswood Way.

Firefighters tackled a small fire on the first floor after IT equipment in a cupboard caught alight.

The blaze, which is believed to be accidental, was out by 2pm.
