Police are warning Stevenage motorists to make sure their cars are locked following a high number of calls relating to thefts from vehicles and interference with vehicles.

In the last 24 hours, Herts Police say they have received more than 40 reports of thefts from motor vehicles or interference with a vehicle.

The highest numbers of offences were reported in Stevenage, Broxbourne and Dacorum, but other areas were targeted as well.

Police states online: “Reports are being actively investigated and targeted patrols are being conducted as a deterrent to criminals.

“However drivers are also urged to follow vehicle crime prevention advice.

“Make sure your vehicle is locked and secure when left unattended and belongings are put out of sight or removed if they are valuable.”
