Person dies after being hit by train near Sandy

A 54-year-old woman has died after being hit by a train near Sandy this afternoon, police have confirmed.

The tragedy happened at 3.20pm, with emergency services declaring the person dead at the scene. British Transport Police confirmed the family have been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Delays are expected on the railways between Stevenage and Peterborough until 6pm.
