Staff and volunteers at RSPB The Lodge in Sandy are busy organising the fully booked ‘Race for Wildlife’ which takes place on Sunday.

There will be special medals for the first three males and female finishers across both distances.

Mark Brandon from The Lodge said: “Registrations for our first Race for Wildlife are completely full, which is incredible for our first ever running event.”

Two circular, multi-terrain courses taking in several hills will be marked around the reserve.

“Funds from the race will help us in our mission to save nature at RSPB The Lodge, by creating and improving the heathland and woodland habitats on the reserve for all types of wildlife,” Mark added.

“Although the reserve is open as usual, we would ask other visitors to be aware of the run and the temporary disruption this may cause along the paths for the short duration of the race, and plan the times of their visit around this.”

The 2k inaugural Race for Wildlife at The Lodge will start at 10.30am, and the 10k at 11am.
