Saturday, June 2
• Purwell School Jubilee Summer Fayre from 11am-3pm – join the celebrations, everyone welcome.
Lots to do – fancy dress competition, face painting, children’s games, arts and crafts and activities, lucky dip, jubilee souvenirs, tea and cakes plus licensed bar and barbecue. All proceeds go to Purwell School, Fairfield Way.
• Art exhibition at The Art Nest, West Alley, Hitchin.
Free drinks and nibbles between 11am and 2pm, with artists on hand to talk about their work. Raffle with great prizes. At 3pm, there will be a Jubilee Soy candle making workshop, with Diamond Jubilee afternoon tea. Costing £26.50 a ticket. Telephone 01462 454019 to book.
Sunday, June 3
• Diamond Jubilee Service takes place in St Mary’s Church at 10am. Everyone welcome to join this town celebration service with plenty of singing and brass.
• Great Wymondley will be renamed GREAT DYMONDLEY for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
An evening celebration will be held at Hitchin Priory from 7pm until 11.30pm. There will be a three-course meal, champagne and lots of entertainment. Tickets cost £40, phone Jackie on 07966 328895.
• A street party (private) will be taking place in Browning Drive. Thirty-two houses are taking part with 90 adults and children attending. Games for kids, music and lots of bunting. Some local businesses have also kindly donated prizes for a street raffle.
Monday, June 4
• Hitchin town celebrations will include music, food and drink on the Market Place from 11am.
Yer Blues Band, Lily Norman and Tony Phillips will perform. From around 2pm Hitchin Light Orchestra making the afternoon swing until 5.30pm.
Tuesday, June 5,
• A seaside themed event takes place along the riverside hosted by Hitchin Markets including Punch and Judy, steel band, Hitchin rock, deck chairs, ice-cream etc.
Saturday, June 9
• Diamond Jubilee Concert with Hitchin Symphony Orchestra and the Stevenage Male Voice Choir in St Mary’s Church at 7.30pm.
The programme includes music by Cole Porter, William Boyce, Gershwin, Malotte, Rodgers and Hammerstein plus many others. Tickets £15, concessions £12 from Hitchin Initiative, 27 Churchyard, 01462 453335. Proceeds go towards Keech Cottage and Rotary charities.

Friday, June 1
• Photo competition: Ickleford Village Hall Committee have organised a photo competition June 1-4. The best photo of an activity showing community life over the Diamond Jubilee Weekend will win a cash prize of £50 and the photo will be displayed in the village hall foyer. Entries should be sent to the Pauline Martin, parish clerk, 7 St Katherine’s Cottages, Greenfield Lane, Ickleford. Closing date for entries is Tuesday, June 12.

• St Katharine’s Church: Songs of Praise fit for the queen, 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Monday, June 4
• Family Fun Day: At Ickleford School, hosted by Ickleford Parish Council to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam will be there as well as a bouncy slide, stalls, barbecue, bar, tea and coffee and a disco. Admission and all entertainment is free of charge. Come and join in the fun.
WYMONDLEY
Saturday, June 3
• Diamond Jubilee Celebration: Wymondley By the Sea Picnic Sunday, June 3 11.30am - 3pm on the village greens, Siccut Road. Bring your own picnic, bucket and spade. Safety first, no glass. Games, bouncy castle, music, displays by local organisations and lots of fun games for the whole family. Beer tent and barbecue also available and more. Organised by Wymondley Parish Council.
