A police dog celebrated his birthday yesterday by chasing down three suspected thieves in Biggleswade.

Police dog Harley – who turned two yesterday – was deployed to the scene with his handler after three men fled from officers in Winston Crescent at about 1.50pm.

He found them in a house in the neighbouring street Northfields, near the northern edge of the town.

A 45-year-old man from Potton, a 35-year-old man from Biggleswade and a 27-year-old man from Sandy were arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods, and have been released under investigation.
