Despite the change in weather, families have been turning out for the Letchworth beach and fun fair for some summer fun.

The event, organised by North Herts District Council, opened last Thursday and has brought fairground rides and a beach right to residents’ doorsteps. Councillor David Barnard, NHDC’s executive member for leisure, said: “We are delighted to be able to hold the fun fair and beach event in Letchworth’s Broadway Gardens this summer.

“The turnout has been good despite the rain, and it’s great to have an event in the centre of town that brings people together to enjoy themselves.

“The summer fun fair and beach event follows on from a successful fair that took place at the same spot in March of this year. It was so popular we decided to bring it back for local people to enjoy during the summer holidays.”

The fun fair and beach will continue to be in Broadway Gardens every day until Saturday, from 12 noon until 8pm.
