A STAR of television makeover show Groundforce, Tommy Walsh visited Stevenage on Tuesday to promote Britain in Bloom and a celebrity football match.

Tommy officially opened a pergola at Lonsdale School, as part of Britain In Bloom and the redevelopment and upgrade of Lonsdale's playground environment.

He arrived in a vintage bus and was the guest of a special assembly at the school where he spoke about how he got involved in television and answered questions.

Tommy was also in town to publicise a celebrity football match kicking-off tomorrow (Friday) at 7.45pm at Stevenage Borough Football Club.

Tickets for the match are available from the Boro Club Shop, on the night or by telephoning 0870 8112494.

A percentage of the ticket money will go to community environmental projects in Stevenage as part of the town's Britain In Bloom campaign.

The match will feature a Stevenage Boro legends team including Paul Barrowcliff, Steve Berry, Noel Blackwell, Corey Browne, Gary Crawshaw, Martin Gittings, Tony Lynch, Richard Nugent, Mark Smith, Neil Trebble, Paul Thompson, Dave Venables and Richard Wilmot.

And for Arsenal, players could include Steve Williams, Tommy Walsh, Ian Allinson, Terry Marsh, Chris Whyte, Ralf Little, Brian Hornsby, Tony Hadley, Perry Groves, Martin Offiah and Danny O'Shea.

Supporters are welcome to join the players in the Broadhall Suite after the game where an auction will take place of the shirts worn on the night by the Boro legends.
