Police were called at 1.32pm after the trio from New Fathers 4 Justice, two of whom wore Anonymous-style masks and Father Christmas costumes, scaled the building in Danesgate.

“The three people have indicated they are from New Fathers 4 Justice and intend their protest to be peaceful,” a police spokeswoman said.

“Officers have been in attendance to ensure the area is safe for the three people and other people in the area.”

The protesters were still on the roof at 4.30pm.
